In part one on orthopedic care for adults, we looked at back, spine, and foot issues, and in this piece we will conclude a list of orthopedic ailments that are common.
SHOULDER AND ELBOW
Although theshoulderis the most movable joint in the body, it is also an unstable joint because of its range-of-motion and because of constant, and often, awkward, use. Because the ball of the upper arm is larger than the socket of theshoulder, it is prone to injury. Theshoulderjoint is also sustained by soft tissues muscles, tendons, and ligaments which are also subject to injury, and improper use.
Degenerative conditions and other diseases in the body may also contribute toshoulderproblems, or generate pain that travels along nerves to theshoulder.
Here are the remainder of basic types of areas where orthopedic pain and injuries are most common:
Elbow:
Elbow Bursitis
Forearm Fracture
Osteoarthritis of the Elbow
Rupture of the Distal Biceps Tendon at the Elbow
Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow)
HIP AND KNEE
While thehipis one of the most stable joints in your body, it carries a heavy load. Its function is to bear your body's weight, which makes oneshipsusceptible to arthritis.
Thekneeis a vulnerable joint that bears a great deal of stress from everyday activities such as standing up, walking, and from high-impact activities such as jogging and aerobics.
An orthopedic physician will diagnose, treat, and care for:
Hip Labral Tear Treatment

HAND AND WRIST
Hands have 27 bones while wrists have eight. Ligaments and other components, as well, are susceptible to injury and motion problems as we use our hands for nearly everything we do. Even a small degree of discomfort or a mild deformity can cause serious consequences.
Handandwristdoctors can diagnose and treat the full bevy of hand and wrist ailments and injuries, including:
Arthritis(Rheumatoid or Osteoarthritis)
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Congenital disordersof the hand or wrist
Contracturesofthehandorwrist
Ligament and tendon repair in the hand and wrist
Nerve damage
Nerve compression syndromes of the hand and wrist
Hand and wrist sports injuries
Sprains.
Hand or wrist tumors
Work-related injuries to the hand or wrist
We mostly dont think about our back, knees, hands, wrists and other orthopedic components until an orthopedic injury occurs. If you have problems with any of these, consult an orthopedic doctor to make sure the injury doesnt worsen and create long-term problems for you.
