It also results from structure changes in the particular cartilage, in the joints, mainly of spine and knees.
Rheumatoid Arthritis:- It is a serious disease that can occur at any stage of life. It is more disastrous then osteoarthritis as it destroys the ligaments and tendons that join the bones and muscles. It affects not only the joints of the fingers, wrists, hips, knees and feet but also the muscles, tendons and other tissues of the body. It is an autoimmune disorder where synovial membranes that line the joints, get inflamed and thickened, leading to pain and deformity of joints.
Gout:- It is caused by an excess of uric acid that accumulates in the system forming crystals that are caught in the spaces between the joints and cause inflammation and irritation. An excruciating pain is created in thumb, knee or elbow and most commonly the big toe.
Causes of Arthritis:

Environmental Factors: Moist conditions increase the possibility of arthritis.
Symptoms of Arthritis
Joint pain and progressive stiffness lacking noticeable swelling, chills, or fever during normal activities almost certainly indicate the gradual onset symptoms of osteoarthritis.
Painful swelling, irritation, and stiffness in the fingers, arms, legs, and wrists occurring in the same joints on both sides of the body, particularly on awakening, may be signs ofrheumatoid arthritis.
Treatment of Arthritis
Arthritis pain relief can be achieve in a short amount of time by topical numbing agents, oral pain killer and anti-inflammatory.

Degenerative joint disease/hip in Maltese/Poodle 5yrs old?
I took my baby in because she was limping-it was a bad sprain, After xrays the Vet says her femoral neck in the hip is eroding away! She is not that old. He gave her Synovi G3 chews for Glucosamine with Chondroitin. If and when she needs the surgery:$3500 for one hip-and, always they say-within a yr or two, the other hip goes out. $7000 is alot for me-Iam laid off on and a senior. He wants her on a low fat diet-she is over-weight. Iam giving her the Flint River Ranch food from online and yogurt for pro-biotics. I have read that Canidae is low fat and good. I feel so bad about this-she is my first dog and I adopted a 2nd dog. I give them the best of everything. 2 months ago, my Miss Cookie had an infection with bladder stones/struvite. That cost a small fortune and they dissolved and she is fine, was on special Hill's SD/stone dissolving food. I give her vit c-to help her urine be more acid. I have heard about Diatomaceous Earth from Wolf Creek Ranch and the miracles it can perform-only the human grade is safe for humans and pets, though. Do all dogs go through this thing with the arthritis and hip and knee pain? I don't want to seem like a whiner-but, this is very expensive. But, there is nothing I can do-Iam 'into it, now'! and, I will see it through. But, Iam fighting back for the healthy miracle cure. What low fat food do you like best, please, for small dogs? Heard of any miracle cures for joints etc. thanks so much!
