Here are some ways you can reduce your chances of suffering from arthritis pain:

Maintain a healthy weight. Excess weight causes the premature wear of the weight-bearing joints, including the feet, ankles, hips, knees and spine.

Maintain a regular exercise routine. By not exercising regularly, muscles weaken and put more pressure on the joints. By exercising regularly, the muscles are allowed to do their job and work with the joints, rather than working together for the muscles.

Do not over exercise. While a regular exercise regimen is essential to your overall health, overusing your joints will have a negative effect on your body. The key is regular exercise - instead of trying to hold a week's worth of exercise once a week. Exercise daily - or keep a consistent schedule.

Avoid repetitive movements as often as possible. Repetitive movements of the wrists or knees can cause problems later in life. Try to switch activities frequently enough to prevent repetitive strain on the joints.

Eating a healthy diet and drink plenty of water. A healthy diet and keep your bodies properly hydrated are important to prevent the onset of the attack of arthritis.

What should I do, diagnosed with arthritis?
Let me start off by saying that I am 18 years old and I had pain and swelling on a few of my fingers and toes back in December. Went to the ER and was diagnosed with MRSA. After 8 days on Bactrim with no improvement, my general doctor said she had no clue and called an infectious disease who turned us to a dermatologist. We watched it for 3 weeks and after a few cycles of swelling and waning, we went to a rheumatologist. My history of psoriasis lead her to think it was Psoriatic Arthritis but we can't get any solid clues to hint such as blood tests or damaged joints. We tried Medrol and I had an allergic reaction so I have been switched on 10mg prednisone for a month to date which took the pain away, but not a lot of the swelling. In addition I have had a dry cough for about 4 weeks now and I am not due back to the doctor until April. What should I do?
