Common Types Of Arthritis And The Symptoms
Arthritis is group of debilitating medical conditions that can have a very negative effect on a persons quality of life. Arthritis affects million of Americans. There are several different
types of arthritis, the most common of which is osteoarthritis. Other common types include rheumatoid, septic and arthritis caused by lupus. Each of these sub-types shares many common symptoms, although they are subtly unique in their presentations.
What are the symptoms of osteoarthritis?
Osteoarthritis presents with a very common pattern of joint pain. This pain results from chronic damage to the cartilage in the joint. Cartilage is necessary to prevent the bones from rubbing together directly. When the cartilage is worn away, the bones are able to make direct contact with each other. This causes the chronic pain seen in osteoarthritis.Osteoarthritis is typically caused either by repetitive injuries to the joint, or excessive weight and pressure being placed on the joint over time. Pain associated with osteoarthritis is typically worse as a person uses the joint during the day. During the wait on the joint or moving it will aggravate the pain. Rest will relieve the pain associated with osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis can be seen in one or multiple joints in the body at the same time. What are the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis? Rheumatoid arthritis is usually more painful when a person is resting. Movement of the affected joints often relieves the pain, at least to a minor degree. Many people with rheumatoid arthritis report that the pain is more severe in the morning, and it gets better as the day goes on. Rheumatoid arthritis is usually seen on both sides of the body at the same time. It is uncommon for rheumatoid arthritis to effect only one joint. What are the symptoms of septic arthritis? Septic arthritis is caused by an infection in the joint. These infections can be caused by any number of different bacteria and viruses. Two examples include Lyme's disease, and the bacteria that causes gonorrhea, although there are dozens of other causes. A joint affected by septic arthritis will become hot, swollen, and tender. People suffering from septic arthritis will often times have a fever, rash, and a general feeling of being ill. Symptoms of the many subTypes Of Arthritis can oftentimes be difficult to distinguish. Your doctor will need to do a thorough interview an examination in order to determine the cause of your joint pain. A question about PCOS?
If you have PCOS and it is not diagnosed or 'treated' are you doing any further harm?
I'm not trying to diagnose myself, but I have a few symptoms and think this is highly possibly, but at the moment I'm seeing a rheumatologist as my doctor suspects I have an inflammatory type of arthritis. I just don't want to have to deal with another specialist and more drugs etc.

I'm definitely not overweight, my BMI is about 21. I have low blood pressure, I don't have diabetes. I just have had crazy (irregular, heavy, long periods) with severe cramps (I have a IUD now so no periods). I have more body hair than the average female and I've had mild-moderate acne, but I'm on antibiotics that's all cleared up.
